08/02/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: The jig is up Jiggy! I’m on to you. You’re sweet, tail wagging, quietly affectionate, good on the leash, housetrained and ready to climb on my lap for some cuddle time. My time with Jiggy was a delight!!! Surrendered by her family we’re told Jiggy lived affectionately with a 4 year old, is “perfectly housetrained”, well behaved when left home alone and sleeps in her crate at night. A little tan pocket pittie, she was so happy to be out for an early morning walk, wagging her tail non stop as we got to know one another, posing for pictures, giving me a sweet soft smile as she made eye contact. Give her a butt scratch and she leans right in, twisting herself around with a smile to show her appreciation. Alert and curious, Jiggy wagged her tail at everyone we passed on our walk, and when I simply wanted to relax on the park bench she was right there with me ready to chill out. We’re told that Jiggy likes puppies (awwwww), does not like cats, and in playgroup she romped with the male helper dog. Tiny, affectionate, gentle and calm, Jiggy is looking for a new family to take care of. Our behavior team feels that she’ll do well in a home with average dog experience so if you’re ready to have a little Jiggy in your life, she’s waiting to meet you. Ask to meet her today
07/28/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Jiggy pulls a bit on the leash. She was excited but very interested in interacting with handler during assessment – jumped up. Jiggy was excited during some of the handling items, but had soft body language. She was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. Jiggy was not interested in toys. Jiggy needs a significant amount of exercise, mental stimulation. She did not show any concern during the behavior assessment. The behavior department feels that she can go to an Average home. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 2. Dog displays high energy and movement, but it is directed toward getting closer to the Assessor. Her body is soft, likely panting, may jump up between attempts to lick Assessor. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (may need coaxing to approach.) she is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Toy 1. No interest. Playgroup Notes: When off leash with other dogs, Jiggy engages in bouts of play with the male greeter dog. She begins to flag for the male greeter dog and offer but bumps to continue to solicit further interaction.
