01/31/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
01/31/16 16:06 Jethro A1064067 is a young male white & tan brindle AMPBT who was found in the finder’s neighborhood two weeks ago and they are no longer able to keep him. They stated he isn’t house broken though he chose one area to “go” in, he chewed on household items, ate Gravy Train dog food 1-2x day and slept on linen in the living room. There were no children or other animals in the home and his behaviors are unknown towards them. During intake Jethro allowed all handling. He had a super loose & wiggly body and jumped up onto my lap for hugs & kisses. He loved belly rubs and had what we call “happy tail” where his tail wags so hard & fast that as it bumps into things & causes the tip of his tail to bleed. You might notice some streaks of red on his white coat from his “happy tail”. Jethro allowed to be scanned (-), collared & taken pictures of and walked into his kennel on his own after his food & water.
02/02/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: If you’re happy and you know it wag your tail… wag, wag. And Jethro did just that–so hard that he has what we call “happy tail,” which is a bloodied end from banging against the sides of the kennel. Mr. Jethro never stops wagging his tail, he’s bouncy and sweet on leash, fun and friendly, wags his tail in greeting to other dogs, and loves to snuggle with his person. Leaning into my hand to be petted, he closes his eyes in bliss, loving the connection. Jethro shows off his sit, gently lifts his treat from my hand, and comes up on my lap to snuggle. Jethro went potty as soon as we were outside, has an amazing wiggle butt in his kennel, and when he sees a volunteer approach, leash in hand, it’s heaven! Jethro poses for pictures and has the cutest face ever, was nicely taken care of, loves belly rubs and anything to do with being petting. Fun, friendly, sweet, gentle and affectionate, Jethro is waiting to meet his BFF, and hoping that will happen today.
02/02/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Jethro pulls hard on the leash. He was excited but very interested in interacting with handler during assessment – jumped up, Mouthy (moderate). He was excited and mouthy during some of the handling items, but had soft body language. Jethro was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. He shows minimal interest during the toy item (lick and smell). Jethro appears to be a high-energy dog that will likely do best with an adopter prepared to provide mental and physical stimulation and appropriate outlets for his energy. The behavior department feels that he may do best with an experienced adopter who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment. We also recommend a home without young children; older children can be considered pending interaction. Look: 3. Dog jumps on the Assessor, consistently rubs his shoulder on the Assessor, and will not allow Assessor to conduct the assessment. Sensitivity: 2. Dog displays high energy and movement, but it is directed toward getting closer to the Assessor. His body is soft, likely panting, may jump up between attempts to lick Assessor. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (may need coaxing to approach.) He is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Squeeze 2: 2. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Toy: 1. Minimal interest. Dog may smell or lick toy
02/03/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Jethro is exuberant and playful with males and females. He does mount, both sexes, but is more interested in play. He entered the care center as a stray, so any in-home behaviors with other dogs are unknown. Based on these observations the behavior department feels that Jethro could go to a home with another rough, boistrous dog. When off leash with other dogs Jethro initially attempts to mount the helper dog but quickly begins to engage in play. He runs through the pens with two females, offering bows when running stops. 2/4 update: Jethro solicits and engages in running, mouthy play with both males and females. 2/6 update: Jethro engages in bouncy running play with males and females. He approaches other dogs, bows then takes off running in hopes the other dogs will give chase. 2/7 update: Jethro continues to enagge in running play with males and females.
