08/11/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Jess came into our center after a member of the public found her outside in a carrier. She was calm and quiet upon intake, allowed all handling. Jess walked well on leash for her relief walk, no pulling. She whined upon entering SAFER assessment room. Jess approached counselor and was easy to position, but tried to bite assessor during Look item. Due to this, all remaining tactile items were skipped. Jess showed minimal interest in Toy, sniffing a few times before turning away. She approached the helper dog at an appropriate pace, relaxed. Jess must be placed with a New Hope partner who can follow up on this behavior. We recommend force-free training to help Jess acclimate to new environments to help her thrive and succeed. Look 5. Dog tries to bite. Toy 1. Minimal interest. Dog smells, then walks away. Dog – dog 2. Dog approaches helper dog with tail at spine level, body not stiff, ears relaxed, and lip long or neutral
