09/14/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Jersey came into the shelter as a stray, so his past behaviors in a home are unknown. Behavior during intake: Jersey was fearful and growled but once out of the crate he allowed all handling by the counselor. Behavior during SAFER: Jersey became stiff when the assessor attempted to restrain him for the look item. Not all tactile items were able to be conducted as Jersey bared his teeth and growled at the assessor on the Look item. He displayed no interest in any of the resource items during this portion of the assessment. In light of this behavior we feel that placement with a rescue that can provide positive reinforcement-based behavior modification is the best option at this time. Look: 5. Dog freezes, growls and bared his teeth. Playgroup:When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, displays soft body language when greeting the female dog. He is social, checking in on her often. He is slightly sexually motivated but does not attempt to mount the female dog. He is able to listen to handler interruptions and displays bouncy language as he explores the pen.
