07/11/17 20:21 During intake Jerry was very friendly and outgoing, he became a bit nervous when staff attempted to place a slip lead around his neck. Staff turned this into a game with him and were able to get him onto it. Once on the slip lead Jerry tugged a little on the leash but appeared to want to explore his surroundings more then anything else.

A volunteer writes: Sweet, Sweet Jerry…Jerry is an all around great dog, he walks well on leash, takes treats gently and was friendly with the other dogs he encountered on our walk. Jerry loves treats and will sit when… he sees them. Jerry appears to have low to medium energy level and prefers kisses and hugs to playing. If you’re interested in making Jerry a part of your family please come to the Care Center and meet him.

KNOWN HISTORY: None Date of intake 7/11/2017 Unaltered male, stray SAFER ASSESSMENT: Date of assessment 7/13/2017 Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. His ears are back, his tail is down, and he has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft or squinty, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag: 2. Dog follows at the end of the leash, a bit distracted, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game Squeeze 1/ 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed Toy: 1. Minimal interest in Toy, dog sniffs, then turns away. Summary:Jerry displayed no concerning behavior during his handling assessment. INTAKE BEHAVIOR Date of intake 7/11/2017 During intake, Jerry was social and outgoing. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Date of initia: 7/12/2017 During his initial medical exam, Jerry was tense but allowed all handling. ENERGY LEVEL: We have no history on Jerry so we cannot be certain of his behavior in a home environment. In the care center, Jerry displays with a high level of energy. He will need daily mental and physical activity to keep him engaged and exercised. We recommend daily walks, runs, exercise, and play to positively direct his energy and enthusiasm. RECOMMENDATIONS: Average (suitable for an adopter with an average amount of dog experience)
