05/09/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Everything about Jenju’s face is adorable: his smile, his polk-a-dot eyelids, the way the top half of his nose is lighter than the bottom….everything! It’s not just his face that’s the best, he is so, so sweet! He’s a little clumsy sometimes, but it only adds to his charm. He seems housebroken and has been very good on leash with me. I suspect he knows “sit,” but quickly learned I’d give him treats just for being him (he takes them super politely). He loves toys, but has a tendency of expressing it by destroying them…I guess he loves them to pieces! When we play fetch he isn’t a star at dropping the ball, but will easily trade and doesn’t guard it. He IS a star at cuddling. Jenju thinks he’s a lap dog and sometimes doesn’t even want to acknowledge he’s reached the maximum amount of “in my lap” he can be! He gives kisses, wags his tail and could seemingly stay there forever watching the world pass by. He’s hoping someone will want to come home to his face everyday…please come meet Jenju at Brooklyn ACC and see if that might be you!
05/10/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Jenju came in as a stray, so his past behaviors in a home are unknown. At intake it was reported Jenju was energetic with loose body language, he allowed all handling. During SAFER Jenju came into the assessment room calm and relaxed, he was friendly and affectionate towards the assessor. He allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Jenju was relaxed during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Jenju was easy to handle when engaged with the item. Jenju appears to be sociable, and did not display any behaviors concerns, so the department feels he can be suitable for an “Average” adopter. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. His ears are back, his tail is down, and he has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed. Squeeze 2:1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy 1: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. He does not place his body between you and the toy.
05/12/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
The Behavior Department was unable to bring Jenju to playgroup but we did do a brief on-leash greeting with a female dog. He greeted with a soft and loose body and slight wiggles. He allowed for muzzle licks but was mostly interested in interacting with the handler.
