06/18/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Miss Jazzy had just joined us when I met her, but she already has staff doing dances around her. Talk about love at first sight!! She seems to be housetrained, is good on the leash, didn’t mind the craziness at the park, gives kisses, climbed on the bench to snuggle with her favorite staff person, takes treats gently, greeted a ‘small’ with a lovely wave of her tail, and her walking style goes like this: walk, walk, hug, walk, walk, walk, hug, hug, walk and repeat! Her tail never stops wagging, she takes treats gently, and her lovely easy going personality shines through in everything she does. She needs a bit of TLC for her coat which is spotty in places, but good nutrition and care will help tremendously. An awesome little super star she will dance her way into your heart as she did mine. Come meet our Jazzy today. Another volunteer writes: Being selected a “Corporate Helper Dog” is quite an honor, and our Jazzy rises to the occasion. A big smile and a wagging tail greets our corporate group, and when she needs a little help getting up on the bench there are many hands willing to provide assistance. Happy to meet everyone who wants to meet her, she’s a delightful little peanut who enjoys the attention and is a wonderfully sweet and easy doggie ambassador. In playgroup she greets other dogs nicely and bounces around when solicited. She’s so patiently waiting to find her happily ever after. Don’t you owe it to yourself to meet her today?
06/15/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Jazzy pulls a bit on leash. She was sociable toward the handler during the assessment – soft body, wagging tail. She was calm and relaxed during handling. Jazzy played tug-of-war with the leash during tag interaction and was a bit difficult to distract her. She took the toy with a soft body language. Jazzy show a bit of concern during the tag interaction she became a bit over arousal. The behavior department feels that she may do best with an experienced adopter who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 2. Follows at end of leash, body soft, ears back, played tug of war with the leash and was a bit difficult to distract her. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Toy 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. She does not place her body between you and the toy. Playgroup Notes: When off leash with other dogs Jazzy greets nicely and briefly bounces around when solicited.
06/14/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Jazzy typically engages in bouts of play with both male and female dogs, soliciting by offering bows and paw slaps. She may become pushy, however, during play, vocalizing and continuously soliciting despite other dogs giving clear signs they are uncomfortable with her playstyle. She arrived at the care center as a stray, so any in-home behaviors with other dogs are unknown. The behavior department recommends a pre-adoption interction to ensure any resident dogs are comfortable with her playstyle. 6/14: When off leash with other dogs Jazzy greets nicely and briefly bounces around when solicited. 6/17, 6/19: Jazzy engages in pushy play with other dogs. 6/20: Jazzy engages in bouts of play.
