11/11/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
11/11/16 16:12 Basic information: Jazzie is a 1 year old female American Pit Bull Terrier. Her previous owner bought her from a breeder when she was 3 weeks old. She was surrendered because of personal problems. The last time she went to the vet was 12/7/15 and she has no known injuries or health problems. Socialization: Around strangers Jazzie is friendly and outgoing and exuberant and somewhat rough when she plays with adults. She lived with her 1 year old bother, an american Pit bull terrier and with him she was relaxed and playful and exuberant and gentle at play. Behavior: Jazzie has never attempted to bite a person or animal. She isnt bothered by storms or fireworks. If her food bowl was taken away from her he would either continue to eat or back away. She became playful if a treat was taken from him. She isnt bothered if he is held or restrained, or disturbed while sleeping. She enjoys baths. She is friendly when brushed and isnt bothered if her paws are touched. She was friendly if an unfamiliar person approached her previous home or owner. For a New Family to Know: Jazzie is described as friendly, afectionate, playful, confident, and excitable with a very high activity level. Her previous owner liked that she is calm. When her previous owner was home she would tend to follow her around. She had no toys. She was kept indoors and at night she slept in the hallway. She ate dry Purina. She is house trained but had accidents 2 to 3 times a week when not taken on walks. When left alone she would tend to eat paper, chew on furniuted and scratch the walls Behavior during intake: Jazzie allowed me to pet her, collar her and take her pictures. She had a wagging tail and relaxed body.
11/15/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Young Jazzie came to us with brother Patch as their owner could not care for her pets anymore. Both dogs are the poster children for the perfectly cared for pooch. Outstandingly groomed (their coat feels like silk), healthy, well nourished and sweet, Jazzie is affected by her relinquishment, but is coming slowly around. Being in playgroups with other dogs awakes her appetite for life, and she playbows and offers paw slaps to her peers. She is cautious with people, walks with a low and slow profile, although as we distance ourself from the care center, she straightens up her body and walks more valiantly. She notices other dogs on the way and wags feebly her tail. Jazzy feels safer in her kennel. I sit at the edge of her den and place tasty treats next to her. She did not want any while she was free in a pen but starts to eat slowly, one by one, the turkey jerkies. She even takes some from my hand and accepts my caresses. Paris (or Rome ) was not made in a day, and look what beautiful cities they are. Same for Jazzy, who comes with excellent recommendations from her former owner. Jazzy needs a new home, and mostly a new owner, to perfectly bloom. A gorgeous flower she will be again…in your hands. She will brighten your days in the winter. Come and meet Jazzie at the Manhattan Care Center. She is dreaming to belong and be yours.
