Yes 985170000155277; History : Owner surrender; Subjective: BARH; Observed Behavior – Quiet, calm for exam, a little timid/tense, allowed all handling; Objective ; P = WNL; R = WNL; BCS 6/9; EENT: Nuclear sclerosis, ears clean, no nasal or ocular discharge noted; Oral Exam: Moderate dental tartar, staining; pink mm; PLN: No enlargements noted; H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupnic; ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated; slightly distended and firm (Tense?); U/G: Male, prominent nipples, ~1cm intradermal mass at cranial scrotal sac; MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, stalked lobulated mass ~2cm hanging from prepuce, healthy hair coat CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities; Assessment: Geriatric, healthy; Prognosis: Good; Plan: Continue to monitor while at BACC. Scheduled CBC/Chem/T4; SURGERY:  Permanent waiver due to age

A Staff member writes : Jay Jay was surrendered because the owner is moving to a place where no animals are permitted. He is a great boy that needs some follow up medical care. As per his owner, he is good with children and good with other dogs.

Basic Information: Jay Jay is a 8 year old unaltered male Tan and white, Large mixed breed. He came to his home 7 year ago from a friend and was surrendered due to the owner moving to NYCHA.

Previously lived with: 1 adult

How is this dog around strangers? Around Strangers Jay Jay is relaxed but allowed them to approach him for soft pets.

How is this dog around children? Jay Jay has been around various children and is gentle and friendly with them,.

How is this dog around other dogs? Around other dogs Jay Jay is aloof and keeps to himself.

How is this dog around cats? Jay Jay has never been around other cats.

Resource guarding: Jay Jay isn’y bothered when someone touches him while he is eating, toys or treats. Jay Jay loves bath and often likes to Lay down in the bath tub. When an unfamiliar person comes into the home and is relaxed.

Bite history: Jay Jay has no bite history.

For a New Family to Know : Jay Jay is described as Friendly, Mellow, and quiet. He likes to follow the owner around the home and likes to play with stuffed, balls, or squeaky toys. Jay Jay is feed wet food of the Alpo stew and boiled chicken. He loves jerky treats and sweet potato. Jay Jay is house trained and uses the grass or cement. He has never been crate trained and is well-behaved when left alone. He goes on slow walks on leash and stays close to the owner if he is off leash.

02/02/18 Vet Notes : Abdominal radiograph review.

Mass effect pushing colon and small intestines away from left side towards midline with soft tissue opacity at central abdomen. Liver appears elongated caudoventrally (suspect this is liver and spleen). Large bladder, normal left kidney seen, unable to visualize right kidney

A: Rule out splenic mass vs liver mass
P: Rec abdominal ultrasound. Poor long term prognosis

02/04/18 Vet Notes: Progress exam-diarrhea noted on rounds. History: Intake 2/1. 2/2: AXR: Mass effect pushing colon and small intestines away from left side towards midline with soft tissue opacity at central abdomen. Liver appears elongated caudoventrally (suspect this is liver and spleen). Large bladder, normal left kidney seen, unable to visualize right kidney

S/O: BAR, active at the front of the cage. No csvd noted in cage but diarrhea noted on rounds board.
EENT: eyes clear, no ocular or nasal discharge
HL: Normal RR/RE, eupneic
INTEG: GHC, no ectos noted
MS: Ambulatory x 4
NEURO: A&A

A: Suspect abdominal mass, Stalked lobulated mass ~2cm hanging from prepuce, Mild Hyperproteinemia with mild hyperglobulinemia , Moderate increased ALT , Marked increased ALP , Marked increased GGT

P: Start metronidazole 15mg/kg PO BID x10d until 2/14, Rec AUS and IM consult, Poor to guarded prognosis

Details on my behavior are…

Date of assessment: 3-Feb-2018

Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted, with tail wagging and ears back. Allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands.

Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, eyes are averted, and tail is in neutral position with a relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item.

Tag: 1. Dog follows at the end of the leash, body soft.

Flank squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all.

Flank squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all.

Toy: 1. Minimal interest in toy, dog may smell or lick, then turns away.

Summary: Jay Jay was calm and relaxed during the handling assessment. No concerns were seen during the handling assessment.

PLAY GROUP :

According to Jay Jay’s previous owner, Jay Jay is aloof and keeps to himself.

2/2: When off leash at the Care Centers, Jay Jay greets with a tall posture and erect tail. He is slight sexually motivated but does not mount, and spends most of his session exploring the pens. He is tolerant of the female greeter’s playful solicitations.

2/3: Jay Jay continues to be sexually motivated, but does not mount and is easy to manage with interruptions. He mostly explores the pens, occasionally checking in with the other dogs when they are near. He moves quickly to greet a novel female dog near her face, and is slow to respond to her lip curls.

2/4: Jay Jay was used as a social greeter dog for a few nervous female dogs. He is slightly sexually motivated but does not mount. He remains calm and social throughout the sessions.

Summary: Upon intake Jay Jay was timid but was fine with counselor petting him and collaring him.

ENERGY LEVEL: His previous owner describes Jay Jay as a friendly, aloof dog, he displayed low energy and movement throughout assessment, and will need daily mental and physical activity to keep him engaged and exercised.

BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION: AVERAGE (suitable for an adopter with an average amount of dog experience)
