04/28/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: I think the only way Jason could possibly be sweeter is if he were doused in syrup and rolled in sugar — he is so, so, soo sweet! He is quiet in his cage but becomes very wiggly once he’s sure you’ve come to take him out, and not just to admire his good looks. He often wears his ears back like a submissive little seal, but when he hears a curious noise they perk up and he transforms into the most adorable little bat! He is very treat motivated, takes them like a gentleman, and already knows “sit” and “down.” He was found running around in a schoolyard with his housemate and has been a little shy, but good, with the dogs he’s met in our playgroups. He has wonderful leash manners and stays just as close to me when I let him loose in the yard. He makes the sweetest eye contact and ever-so-gently props his paws up on me to initiate cuddling. Come meet Jason at Brooklyn ACC and leave with warm fuzzy feelings!
04/26/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Jason came in as a stray, so his past behaviors in a home are unknown. At intake it was reported Jason had loose body language, he allowed all handling. During SAFER Jason came into the assessment room loose and wiggly, he was friendly and affectionate towards the assessor. He allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Jason was relaxed during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Jason was easy to handle when engaged with the item. Jason appears to be sociable, and did not display any behaviors concerns, so the department feels he can be suitable for an “Average” adopter. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. His ears are back, his tail is down, and he has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed. Toy: 1. Minimal interest in Toy, dog licks, then turns away. Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Jason interacts with the other dogs with a soft, low body. He is a little nervous and keeps his distance for much of the session.
