Socialization
Jason was described as being sociable and would greet strangers by jumping on them in excitement. The owner described Jason as very tolerant of children, living with a 12 yr old and a 5 yr old. Jason was said to attempt to sniff other dogs but never got the opportunity to interact with any.
Behavior
Jason was said to use the bathroom indoors and outdoors but would use a wee wee pad when indoors. He allowed to be bathed while jumping into the water for playtime and eing brushed. Jason was described as not having any food/toy guarding behaviors and usually allowed anyone to play and grab his toys.
For a Family to Know
Jason was described as friendly and sociable around strangers with a loose wiggly body and wagging tail. He loved to jump up on the visitors who came to the home in a non-aggressive manner. Jason has a high activity level who loves to run in the back yard playing games such as fetch and tug. He enjoys dry food (pedigree) and raw hide treats. He pulls lightly on the leash.
During Intake
Jason was super excited Greeting staff with a loose wiggly body, happy waging tail and open mouth. He solicited attention by jumping onto staffs laps and being pet on his head. Polo allowed to be scanned (-), collared, photographed and to be placed into his kennel. where he solicited more attention and continued to try and lick staff.
BEHAVIOR
Jason came to us as an owner surrender on 1/14/16. According to the owner Jason has lived with two children and is described as very tolerant of the children. He was reported to become very excited when meeting visitors and would jump up to greet them and attempt to play with them. He was very interested in interacting with the assessor when entering the behavior room with very wiggly body language. He allowed the assessor to conduct all tactile assessment items while maintaining her soft body language. He had soft body language when engaging in play with the assessor on the tag interaction, but at points became a bit fearful with low body language. He only displayed minimal interest in the toy on this portion of the assessment. The behavior department believes that Jason can go to an adopter with an average amount of dog experience.
Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. His ears are back, his tail is down, and he has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands.
Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is closed for a portion of the assessment item.
Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. He indicates play with huffing, soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc. At points low body, and a bit fearful but still soft in body language.
Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw.
Squeeze 2:1. Dog gently pulls back his paw.
Toy: 1. Minimal interest. Dog smells, licks and mouths, then turns away.
When off leash with other dogs Jason engages in bouts of running play but often ceases and begins to whine and bark at the handlers and at the gate. He is easily distracted again when solicited play.
GROUP BEHAVIOR
When off leash with other dogs Jason engages in bouts of running play but often ceases and begins to whine and bark at the handlers and at the gate. He is easily distracted again when solicited play.
1/16 update: Jason, again, exhibits this behavior. He will briefly play but becomes distracted by stimuli in the yard and begins to bark.
