01/26/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: What’s not to love about Janet Jetson? She is not a fashionista like the Hanna Barbera cartoon character but she surely knows how to please her crowd of admirers. Yep, this lady is often out on a walk and she loves to be with people and other dogs, and cavort in the snow. Lovely Janet is a stocky gal with a serious face and intense eyes. She was most likely recently separated from her litter of pups. What a glorious mom she must have been! She looks healthy, well nourished and wears an intact and thick coat. Janet is quite welcoming in her kennel, using all the well known tricks to convince a potential caretaker that she is the guarantee of a great outing… hopeful face, waggy tail and wiggly butt. The leash is accepted in no time and the street or the yard are reached in 3 seconds. Janet is totally fine with the snow and dips happily into it. She loves treats, mostly roast beef, and sits politely for it. She jumps on the bench upon request and, wet paws on my knees, she slobbers a few kisses on my face. Other dogs… that is her thing. She loves meeting them, even if it is only through the fence. Her tail beats the air, she playbows, she is so excited in a very happy and engaging way. So… are we meeting already? Indeed, Janet Jetson is a great gal, full of life, fun to be with, a ray of sunshine. She will be in the life of the lucky person who will adopt her and make her a most awesome loyal forever best friend. Ten thumbs up to Janet who is waiting for you at the Manhattan Care Center.

01/26/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Jane Jetson is social and energetic. She is bouncy when soliciting play, often jumping on and over the other dogs. She will offer correction when solicited by a pushy male. She entered the care center as a stray, so her in-home behaviors with other dogs are unknown. Based on these observations, the behavior department feels that Jane Jetson could go to a home with another dog, male or female, that is playful and respectful. When off leash with other dogs, Jane Jetson solicits bouncy play. She briefly attempts to mount another dog during play but responds well to correction. Jane Jetson offers strong correction to a dog that becomes pushy during play. 1/27 update: Jane Jetson engages in bouts of play with males and females. 1/28 update: Jane Jetson greets politely but does not play when solicited.
