Stray brought in last night, owner came in this morning to reclaim, has proof of Rabies vaccine overall calm, interested in surroundings but moves slowly, allows full exam with no handler T = P = 120 R = pant BCS 4/9 EENT:mucoid OU discharge, bilateral entropion, opacity OU, brown discharge AU, resists more complete AU exam Oral Exam: severe dental calculi & tartar PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupnic ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated, gas filled intestine U/G: intact male MSI: Ambulatory x 4, short strided gait, crepitus and decreased ROM in hindlimbs with moderate mm atrophy, severely thickned elbows with decreased ROM, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, hypertrophic alopecic areas at elbows, hypertrophic anal area CNS: mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Rectal: not performed Assessment geriatric male intact dog with: – osteoarthritis vs other – dental disease – bilateral entropion Plan return to owner Prognosis: good, recommend CBC/CHem/UA, physical therapy for OA +/- supplements or pain management SURGERY: Permanent waiver due to age
