02/14/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Jory is definitely still a puppy and has tons of bouncy puppy energy. He needs a little bit of leash training and runs in circles around me as I walk him – nothing a little maturity and leash experience won’t fix. He is definitely a lover of people and wants to run up to everyone we see for some belly rubs. Jory is ready and waiting for an owner who wants to play some fetch with him, take him for long walks and give him many belly rubs. Come meet him today!
02/11/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Jory came in as a stray, so his past behaviors in a home are unknown. During SAFER Jory came into the assessment room loose and wiggly, he was friendly, playful and affectionate towards the assessor, allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Jory joins the game during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Jory was easy to handle when engaged with the item. Jory appears to be sociable, and did not display any behaviors concerns, so the department feels he can be suitable for an “Average” experienced adopter. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. His ears are back, his tail is down, and he has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Or dog indicates play with huffing, soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc. Dog jumps on Assessor once play begins. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed. Squeeze 2:1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy 1: 1. Dog settles down close to chew, will relinquish toy to you. Dog-dog: Jory initially is nervous at the greeting with a tucked tail and lowered body posture. He does loosen up once the helper dog politely solicits play and engage in running/chase play, taking breaks and dramatic stop/starts. Jory is uncomfortable when the helper dog uses vocal corrections and immediately stops play and hides.
02/04/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
When off leash with other dogs, Jory greets with a tucked tail, neutral body position and a slighly tense face. He exchangings sniffs with the helper dog and wanders the pen. 2/10 update: Jory initially is nervous at the greeting with a tucked tail and lowered body posture. He does loosen up once the helper dog politely solicits play and engage in running/chase play, taking breaks and dramatic stop/starts. Jory is uncomfortable when the helper dog uses vocal corrections and immediately stops play and hides. 2/17 update: Jory greets loose and wiggly. He engages in gentle, bouncy play but is easily overwhelmed by the helper dog’s enthusiasm.
