PROFILE:
Jaeger is a three year old black and tan neutered German Shepherd. He was adopted from ACC and returned due to allergies of a family member. Jaeger was with his owner for almost a month.
Jaeger has lived with two adults and two children ages ten and thirteen. Owner states Jaeger is shy around strangers and displays a tense body, he will have his tail tucked and move away from the stranger. It takes several days for him to get accustomed to the new person. Jaeger was described as respectful with the older child and would engage in exuberant play. With the ten year old owner stated he was somewhat rough and would stand up and occasionally push the child when playing. Jaeger spent time with a male corgi and female poodle mix. Owner stated Jaeger was shy at first with the other dogs and after a few minutes of sniffing he would run around with the small dogs. Jaeger lived with a cat as well and owner stated he was tolerant and relaxed towards the cat.
Jaeger is not bothered when his food is touched or when a treat is taken away. Owner stated Jaeger loves to jump on the furniture and when asked to jump off he would play dead and not listen, after a few minutes of coaxing he would finally get down. Jaeger will bark then retreat if a visitor approaches his home. Jaeger was not interested in toys. He likes to play fetch and lived in a home with a yard. Owner stated he would bark while in the yard and if left alone he will howl and bark as well. Jaeger knows the command sit if fingers are snapped. He eats Pedigree wet and dry food and is free fed.
Upon intake Jaeger had a tense body, he had his tail tucked and paced around the office. Jaeger retreated when cousnelor approached for scanning (positive), cousnelor proceeded slowly and was able to collar.
