02/16/16 13:44 BASIC INFO Jada A1065219 is an approximately 2 year old American Pitbull Mix. She is being surrendered to the shelter because the owner does not have time for her. Owner stated that Jada was a gift from a family member a year ago. Jada does not have any health concerns. SOCIALIZATION Around strangers, Jada is friendly and outgoing and solicits attention from strangers. She plays gently with adults and children. She lived with a 9, 11 and 13 year old that she respected and played gentle with. Jada has never lived with another animal. She has not bitten anyone. BEHAVIOR Jada does not have any behavior issues. During storms or fireworks she is not bothered. Jada is not bothered if you touch her food bowl, water bowl or toy. She is not bothered if you bathe her. If an unfamiliar approaches the owner or the doorway to the home, she barks. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW Jada is best described as friendly, affectionate and playful. She has a high activity level. When home, she follows you around. She loves to play with any kind of toy. She has been kept mostly indoors. She sleeps on a doggy bed. She is fed Alpo dry food. Jada is house trained but will have accidents if not walked in time. When left home alone, she is well behaved. For exercise, she would be briskly walked on the leash. She listens to the command sit. BEHAVIOR DURING INTAKE Jada allowed all handling, collaring and photos.

Jada was stiff and did not show social behavior during the assessment. Jada was frightened but is not submissive, she was uncomfortable with handling, body stiff, ears back, lowered body, tail tucked and she slightly curled her lips. The behavior team decided to skip the handling part of the assessment for safety reasons. During the resources Jada was not interested in toys. Jada was surrender to us. Her previous family described her as friendly, affectionate and playful. She has a high activity level. Around strangers, Jada is friendly and outgoing and solicits attention from strangers. She plays gently with adults and children. She lived with a 9, 11 and 13 year old that she respected and played gentle with. Jada has never lived with another animal. Jada is not bothered if you touch her food bowl, water bowl or toy. The behavior department feels that he would do best if placed with a New Hope partner who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification before placement into a permanent home. Toy 1: No interest. Playgroup Notes: Jada is a bit tense-bodied upon entering the pen. She solicits play from the other dogs, but tenses and becomes vocal when corrected.

Jada is tense when greeting dogs and even when she solicits play, she does not loosen or become completely comfortable. Her owner reports she has never lived with another dog, nor has she interacted with one. The behavior department recommends a pre-adoption interaction as well as allowing Jada time to acclimate before introducing her to any resident dogs. When off leash with other dogs, Jada is nervous and tense in the yard environment, but briefly approaches and sniffs the male greeter dog. 2/18 update: Jada is a bit tense-bodied upon entering the pen. She solicits play from the other dogs, but tenses and becomes vocal when corrected.
