09/19/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Jacob just might be the sweetest most gentle giant that ever was! He previously lived with young children (he was tolerant and playful with them) and his littermate and we’re told he loves water, can be protective of his owner, and is well behaved when left alone. He is quiet in his cage, walks perfectly on leash and seems housebroken. He hasn’t been especially interested in my treats, but will sit when I ask him and also briefly entertain himself with the tennis ball I offer him. Though he was relaxed and affectionate with his housemate, he seemed a little fearful when we encountered strange dogs on our walks (of course it’s not the ideal response, but there is something “aw”-inducing about an 80+lb dog that is scared of the yorkie across the street!). His previous owner describes him as “mellow yet confident” and during our outings he has been a little shy, but clearly craves affection and attention. He stays so close to me it was challenging to get a photo of him (he is infinitely more handsome in person!), rests his head on my lap when I sit on the bench, and will nuzzle into and lick my hands when I stop petting him. He is so endearing and spending time with him only leaves me wanting more…please come see this special boy for yourself at Brooklyn ACC!
