Summary: Jackson showed no concerns on his SAFER assessment DOG-DOG INTERACTION ASSESSMENT: Summary PLAYGROUP: Jackson was surrendered as a stray so his past behavior around dogs is unknown. When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Jackson engages in gentle play with male and female dogs. He may become sexually motivated with the females but is able to listen to handler interruptions. He becomes a bit uncomfortable when another dog continually solicits him to play. The Behavior Department recommends that Jackson be placed in a home with dogs that match his gentle play style and that a dog-dog interaction is conducted prior to adoption to ensure compatibility. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 10/14/16: Jackson was friendly during his initial examination with his tail wagging, jumping up, eager to greet and solicit attention. He allowed all handling. ENERGY LEVEL: In the care center, Jackson has been social and loose-bodied, exuberant and attention-seeking. He does pull hard on leash and may benefit from a front-buckling harness in order to make walking him easier. He is enthusiastic and tends to greet by jumping, which can be overwhelming. We suggest force-free guidance to help Jackson learn more appropriate ways to greet his people. RECOMMENDATIONS: Average (suitable for an adopter with an average amount of dog experience)
