05/06/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Helper dog: A1071773 Jack Daniels previously lived with adults and a 4 year old. The owner stated Jack Daniels is relaxed and played somewhat rough towards the adults and children. The owner mentioned Jack Daniels lived with two other cats and was relaxed and respectful. The owner describes Jack Daniels as friendly, affectionate, playful, confident and excitable. It was reported by the owner Jack Daniels is house trained, has a medium activity level and well behaved when home alone. At intake it was reported jack had loose body posture, then his behavior changed and he began to growl and bare teeth at the counselor, he did not allow all handling. During SAFER Jack Daniels came into the assessment room calm, he was a bit social towards the assessor. Not all handling items were able to be conducted as Jack Daniels low growled at the assessor when attempting to collar him. He displayed minimal interest in the toy item during this portion of the assessment. When on leash for a dog interaction with another dog on leash Jack Daniels approaches the helper dog with his tail above spine and his body a bit tense. In light of this behavior we feel that placement with a rescue who can provide positive reinforcement-based behavior modification is the best option at this time. Toy: 1. Minimal interest in Toy, dog smells, then turns away. Dog-dog: 3. Dog approaches the helper dog with his tail above spine, body a bit tense and ears erect.
05/05/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Jack Daniels’s previous owner reported that he becomes stiff and alert around other dogs ever since he was attacked by a stray. During the attack he bit the stray dog in defense. When off leash with other dogs, Jack Daniel approaches the gate with a high tail but did not seem focus on neither the dog nor handlers. When attempting to tighten his collar before letting him in the pen with the other dog Jack Daniels growled and bared his teeth while head flipping towards the handler’s hand. Due to this concerning behavior he was not allowed to further interact with the greeter dog with the gate open.
