Basic Information:
Jack is an older, tan and white, small mixed breed male. He was not neutered prior to coming into the shelter, and has cataracts in his eyes but has no injures. He last saw a vet a year ago and was an owner surrender due to the children in the home not caring for the dog.
Previously lived with: In home with owner and children
How is this dog around strangers? Jack is friendly and outgoing when meeting new people. Due to his eyes, he cannot see but he is able to approach guests and after sniffing them, he enjoys attention.
How is this dog around children? Jack has lived with children and was playful and respectful around them.
How is this dog around other dogs? Jack has spent time around other dogs and was respectful and tolerant around them.
How is this dog around cats? Jack has not spent time around cats.
Resource guarding: Jack has no resource guarding behavior, his owner is able to touch his food bowl and take objects from his mouth without Jack growling or snapping at him.

Other Notes:
Jack’s owner is able to give him a bath and brush him, but he has never trimmed his nails. They walk him outside often and then file down naturally. Jack will alert bark when someone approaches the house or yard.

Medical Notes; Jack has cataracts in both of his eyes.

Jack is described as being friendly, affectionate and playful. He likes to follow his family around and be in the same room as them. He likes to play with balls, stuffed toys, squeaky toys and chew toys. He likes to play fetch, chase and tug. He has been an indoor dog and sleeps both wet and dry food, He has been house trained to go outside on any surface and is crated when left alone of the house. He knows the command sit, come, down and stay. He walks on leash for exercise and will sometimes pull.

Jack was easy to handle during intake, he sat on counselors lap and was licking counselor.
