Jack came into our center as an owner surrender citing he started snarling and barking at the owner’s new baby. It is reported Jack is gentle with teenagers as well as the other resident dog he lived with. Behavior around cats is unknown. Jack is reportedly not bothered when any food or toy is taken from him, but when bones are taken away and snarls. He is bothered by having baths and does growl. When someone unfamiliar approaches the home, yard, family member, or owner, Jack will bark and growl. Jack is described as friendly, anxious, and playful with a high activity level. He knows sit, down, come, and stay. When left alone in the home, Jack is well-behaved. Jack pulled out of assessor’s hands on all three Look attempts. He stood still and accepted the touch during Sensitivity item, mouth closed. Jack spun away from 2nd pass of Tag game, but followed majority of the time and settled easily at end of game. He gently pulled his paw back on both Squeeze attempts. Jack showed no interest in Toy, though this may be due to environment as owner reports Jack’s favorite toys are bones and balls, he loves to play fetch. He approached the helper dog at an appropriate pace, tail at spine level, relaxed. The Behavior Team feels Jack would do best with an Experienced adopter that does not have young children. He will benefit from entering a calm, quiet, structured environment so he can relax and warm up at his own pace. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1.
