A volunteer writes: Break out your sunglasses as this little girl’s coat GLEAMS with good care. She’s a rich deep chocolate brown, lush and beautifully taken care of. Little white socks on her feet complete her ensemble, and her cute little ears are in tune with every sound. Housetrained and great on leash, she checks up often while walking to make sure we’re good….oh, we’re more than good little girl! Her face is so expressive, her eyes bright and clear and I can almost see her processing thoughts as she tries to figure out this new place. Off leash in the back Ivy poses for some pictures, shows me a little dance on her hind legs before her sit and takes treats super gently with the very edge of her teeth. As I pet her she snorts softly, and comes on my lap for some kisses. Lifting her head like a cat Miss Ivy seems to love being scratched under her chin, giving me a few more soft snorts. You just have to love a dog who snorts with pleasure! In group with other dogs she’s nervous at first but warms up and solicits play. A tiny, absolutely delightful peanut, she showed the behavior assessor all her good manners so can be adopted into a home with average dog experience. You’ll love her, so don’t pass up the chance to meet her today.
BEHAVIOR :
Ivy walks calmly on leash. She was calm and relaxed during handling. Ivy followed the assessor at the end of the leash during the tag test with calm and relaxed body language She was not interested in toys.
Ivy did not show any concern during the behavior assessment. The behavior department feels that she can go to an Average home.
Look: 1. Dog holds gaze with soft eyes, soft body. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Dog holds gaze for three full seconds.
Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture.
Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft, neutral wagging tail, open mouth.
Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw.
Squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw.
Toy 1: No interest.
Playgroup Notes:
When off leash with other dogs Ivy is nervous but over time she warms up and begins to approach the helper dog to sniff.
PG: When off leash with other dogs Ivy is nervous but over time she warms up and begins to approach the helper dog to sniff.
1/21: Ivy solicits from the other dogs but becomes a bit pushy when the other dog is uninterested.
1/22 update: Ivy is playful but pushy when soliciting play. She tenses and will paw slap the female dog, when the same play is reciprocated she does not engage.
CAME IN WITH: CHARM – A1063297 (NOT AN URGENT DOG)
