Medical Summary Sex: Female Scan: Negative Estimated age: Reported by owners as 10 years old; dentition is consistent with a 5 year old dog Fleas: No flea dirt. S: Calm, sits in one place, allows all handling O: BAR, BCS 6/9, MMs pink and moist, CRT <2 sec EENT: OS microphthalmia, soft to the touch (hypotony), third eyelid is partially elevated and will not fully retract, cornea is blueish and opaque. OD WNL. Cannot see inside ears due to mats obstructing ear canals. No nasal discharge. Mild tartar and gingivitis. Heavily matted – mats covering the ears, and hanging down over the eyes and mouth. PLNs: Not enlarged. H/L: NSR, NMA. Eupnic, quiet lung sounds. Abd: Distended but soft – thin abdominal muscle tone, large pot belly. Cranial organomegaly. No pain on palpation. M/S/I: Can walk but prefers to lie down. Severe medial buttressing and crepitus in both stifles.Large mats encircle the legs and hang from the tail. Truncal alopecia with large mats of long fur that are partially detached. Skin of dorsal abdomen is hyperpigmented and there are some comedomes on the tailhead and in the lumbar region. Green spay tattoo on abdomen. UG: Female, developed vulva with a large mat attached to it A: 1. Alopecia, distended abdomen, thin abdominal muscles, comedomes – symptoms of Cushing’s disease 2. Matted 3. Arthritis in both stifles, likely hx of medial patellar luxation compounded by Cushing’s disease 4. Left eye is microphthalmic – R/O congenital vs. acquired disorder Short-term prognosis: Fair with treatment, grave without treatment P: Medical needs include bloodwork, testing for Cushing’s disease, grooming and **non-NSAID** pain medication for arthritis in hind legs 1088
