08/17/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Iris previously lived with two adults and two children a newborn and an 8 year old. The owner stated Iris is friendly around strangers and adults, but can be reactive around children; he will become stiff, growl and bark at them. The owner mentioned Iris is house trained and has a high activity level. At intake it was reported Iris was reactive around other dogs in the lobby, all handling was conducted by the owner. During SAFER Iris came into the assessment room loose and wiggly, she was friendly and social towards the assessor. She allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Iris was relaxed during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Iris was easy to handle when engaged with the items. Due to some concerns stated from the previous owner she can be reactive around children, the behavior department feels she can be suitable for an experience adopter with no children and we recommend being the only pet in the house hold. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. Her ears are back, her tail is down, and she has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1 & 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Toy: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. She does not place her body between you and the toy. Dog-dog: When off leash at the Care Center, Iris appears a little anxious at first, pacing around the pen. She eventually approaches the gate to greet the helper dog with a soft body. When she enters the pen, Iris exchanges sniffs and explores the yard a little but returns to the helper dog. This time she stiffens her posture, throws her paw onto his flank and attempts a mount. He gives her a small growling correction and she dismounts.
08/14/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION

She hard stares and becomes stiff, and when allowed into the pen she attempts to mount. She becomes focused on the other dog, even when she is moved away. The Behavior Department recommends that Iris be placed in a home with no other dogs. 8/14: Iris appears a little anxious at first, pacing around the pen. 8/20: Iris displays slightly stiff body language when greeting the other dogs.
