MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:
Icicle was relaxed and easy to handle during his initial medical exam.
ENERGY LEVEL:
RECOMMENDATIONS: Experience (Suitable for an adopter with a previous amount of dog experience)
_X_No young children (under 5): Icicle became a bit possessive over toy, standing over toy and not easily relinquishing. Young children may not be able to fully comprehend that Icicle should be left alone while eating and playing. Older dog savvy children should have an in depth interaction before considering adoption.
Potential challenges:
_X_Resource guarding: Icicle showed possible potential for possessiveness. At conclusion of assessment, he did respond to the cue ‘drop it’ and would release toy for a treat, but not wander too far from toy. He may benefit from additionally learning the cue ‘leave it’ and walking away from the toy to receive his treat after correctly dropping it. Icicle should learn the cue ‘wait’ before releasing him to re-engage with toy after he drops it and leaves it. Icicle should be left alone while eating and things (food, toys, treats) should not be taken directly out of his mouth.
