A volunteer writes: Chunky dreamboat Ice has visited the shelter before, and each time, I find new reasons to love her. Charming, intelligent, sweet, adorable and fun are just the tip of this ICEberg! She comes to us due to housing issues and (not surprisingly) her owner has a ton of good things to say about her. She wags her whole body around strangers, has lived with children and teenagers (she was especially gentle with the youngest….how sweet is that?!), and hasn’t shown any guarding issues. Despite being away from her family, Ice still manages to radiate positive energy, and I always have the best time with her…she is infinitely charismatic!! She pulls some on the leash but isn’t unmanageable, seems housebroken, and eagerly sits for treats. She LOVES to play with toys and insists on inviting me to the party by initiating chase play or tug. She is energetic and playful, but also super affectionate. As soon as I sit down on a bench she’s in my lap kissing my face clean and she is, hands down, the belly rub queen! She can be jumpy and mouthy, but has always been very responsive when I channel her excitement elsewhere. She is SUCH A SWEETHEART!! Please come see this special lady for yourself at Brooklyn ACC!

RECOMMENDATIONS: Experience (suitable for an adopter with some previous dog experience, especially with behaviors outlined below. _X_No young children (under 5): Due to Ice’s low threshold for arousal, we advise against a home with young children until further behavior modification can be made to aid in this potential challenge Ice presents. _X_Single-dog home/Recommend no dog parks: The Behavior Department recommends that Ice not be placed in a home with other dogs due to her assertive behavior and her previous guardian reporting she snaps at other dog. _X_Mouthiness/Poor bite inhibition: Decreasing the force of the mouth as well as the frequency of mouthing, in this order is recommended by using force-free, reward based training as well to reinforce a soft appropriate mouth and redirect hard inappropriate mouthing onto toys.
