02/23/16 11:57 02/23/16 11:34 Basic Information: Hustle is a 2 year old altered American Staffordshire Terrier. He was bought from a friend as a puppy and is being surrendered because Hustle is frightened when one of the family members has a seizure. Hustle would visit the vet on an annual basis and has no known health problems or injuries. Socialization: Hustle is friendly and outgoing when he meets strangers. He becomes exuberant and will jump on the people and wag his tail. He has not been socialized with children to know his behavior with them. He has spent time with medium size dogs of all ages. He is relaxed and very playful with other dogs. The owner says that he is exuberant during play and sometimes other dogs think he is being aggressive with his play because he plays somewhat rough. When Hustle is on walks you like to focus on walking and he ignores dogs and cats on the street. He has not spent time with cats other than the stray cats he sees outdoors. Behavior: Hustle is not bothered when someone touches or removes his food bowl. He will growl if someone attempts to take away his bone. He believes people are playing when they take away a toy. He is not bothered when removed from the furniture. He LOVES bath time and is often playful in the tub. It is unknown how he is when he has his nails trimmed because the vet does it. She is very friendly and becomes playful when pet, held, or hugged. When an unfamiliar person approaches the home, Hustle will be very alert and push himself in front of his owners but is friendly and jumps on the person when they enter the home. He is not bothered when unfamiliar people approach his owner outside.

03/03/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Hustle came to us as an owner surrender due to Hustle biting one of the owner’s while the owner was having a seizure. According to the owner Hustle is friendly and outgoing when meeting strangers, like to play with other dogs, but plays with them roughly. It was reported that Hustle will growl if someone attempts to take his bone away. The owner stated that Hustle becomes frightful when the owner has seizures and has bit in the past during these episodes. Hustle was very nervous when entering the behavior room and had slightly tense body language. He approached the assessor with stiff body language. When trying to interact with Hustle before placing on the collar Hustle would jump away from the assessor in fear and have stiff body language. He constantly flinched with fast movements and would have a crouched body position. After a few minutes Hustle seemed to warm up a bit to the assessor, but then sat between the assessor’s legs looked up at the assessor and froze. For this reason, the handling portions of the assessment were skipped. Hustle took the toy item away with soft body language, and rushed in towards the helper dog with tense body language. We recommend placement with a NH partner at this time. Toy 1: 2. Dog takes toy away, keeps a firm hold. His body is between you and the toy, and he is loose and wiggly. No growling or stiffness. Dog-dog: 3. Dog approaches the helper dog by rushing in with his tail high, tense body, head tall, and ears erect.
