A staff member writes: Hunter is a sweet dog with an old man soul. He loves treats and will lean on you for attention. He becomes excited when you offer him toys and enjoys a game of tug. He was wandering the streets, searching for his forever home, and that is you. Come into Brooklyn Care Center and bring Hunter home, our calm soul.

07/08/2017 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
KNOWN HISTORY: None 7/5/17 Unaltered male, stray Previously lived with: Unknown SAFER ASSESSMENT: 7//17 Look: 1. Dog holds gaze with soft eyes, soft body. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Dog holds gaze for three full seconds. Sensitivity:1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 2. Follows at end of leash, body soft but anxious and attempts to exit. Squeeze 1&2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed. Toy: 1. No interest. Summary: Hunter was friendly and social but is very strong and pulls hard on the leash. PLAYGROUP: When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Hunter mostly keeps to himself when socializing with male and female dogs, but will occasionally mount. He responds well to handler interruptions and other dogs’ corrections. Hunter was surrendered as a stray so his past behavior around dogs is unknown. The Behavior Department recommends that Hunter be placed with dogs that match his calm sociability. INTAKE BEHAVIOR 7/5/17: Upon intake Hunter was calm and allowed the counselor was collared and photo was taken. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 7/6/17: Active, growled. ENERGY LEVEL: We have no history on Hunter so we cannot be certain of his behavior in a home environment. However, he is a young, enthusiastic, social dog who will need daily mental and physical activity to keep him engaged and exercised. We recommend long-lasting chews, food puzzles, and hide-and-seek games, in additional to physical exercise, to positively direct his energy and enthusiasm. RECOMMENDATIONS: Experience (suitable for an adopter with some previous dog experience, especially with behaviors outlined below) Potential challenges: _X_Anxiety- Hunter has shown some signs of potential anxiety in the care center, vocalizing (whining) continually through the SAFER. This behavior was not reported at intake, and we have no known history on Hunter, so we cannot be certain whether similar behavior will be seen in a future home environment. _X_Strength/leash pulling- Hunter is a large, strong dog with the capability to pull over an average adopter. His adopter must be prepared and able to handle a dog of this size and strength. It is recommended th
