06/26/16 15:15 Basic Information: Hunter is a year & a half old unneutered male Rottweiler that has no past or current medical issues that the owner is aware of. Owner has had Hunter for 6 months. Socialization: Around strangers, Hunter is friendly & will want to jump to say hello & give kisses. He came from a home that had a 5,8 and 10 year old and he was always fine with the kids until recently when he bit one of the owners sons. Owner did not have a cat or dog in the home but did state when he would bring Hunter to Petco for grooming, they would need to take the back way as Hunter would get too excited and distracted and it would be hard to get him in the room. Behavior: Owner stated that Hunter is friendly when taking a toy away, being pushed off furniture, being given a bath, having his nails trimmed, and having his coat brushed. Owner has never tried to take away his food or treats so he is not sure how he would react. When unfamiliar people would come over to the owners house, Hunter would jump on them. If he was in the backyard and someone passed by, he would bark. For a New Family to Know: Hunter is described as friendly, affectionate, playful, pushy, excitable, independent and anxious with a very high activity level. When in the home, he liked to follow owner around and sit at his feet nudging him to pet him. Hunter was kept indoors only and is house trained. He has never had an accident since owner had him in the home. When owner first got Hunter & left him home alone, he would chew on the wood in the room they kept him in, but now he is well behaved. He is also well behaved when left alone in the yard. Owner stated that he would only put Hunter in a crate if they were traveling in the car and let him have access to walk around the home. For exercise, Hunter would go and play in the yard. On the leash, he is a very hard puller. Owner has never tried to keep him off leash as Hunter would run away. Hunter likes to play w/ tennis balls that squeak & chew on rawhide. He would also enjoy fetch and tug. In the home, owner fed Hunter dry food only brand name Call of the Wild 3x a day. Owner stated his favorite thing about Hunter is how smart and playful he is. He would do great in a home that has lots of space for him to run around in. Owner did mention did about 2 mnths ago, Hunter started reacting to hearing animals in the yard and would start barking a lot. Behavior during intake: Allowed all handling but very hyper.
