A volunteer writes:

If it was not for his grey muzzle,  I would never guess that Cavalli is eleven year old. Like his name indicates, he is a handsome steed who needs unfortunately a new knight . Indeed, Cavalli’s owner became too ill to take care of his pet, the very reason why he is with us. Good genes and good care made Cavalli what he is today, a handsome, healthy, lively, energetic and sociable character. His  teeth are great. His coat , perfect. His eyes are not shadowed by any cloud. They look with determination into mine and there is no need for him to bark… Cavalli knows what he wants…He is a strong dog who pulls on the leash, seemingly quite house trained , a perfect sitter mostly when he spots or smells treats…and a good subject for the photographer. Although he likes dogs, even the little ones, Cavalli is uncomfortable with  the rambunctious ones who throw themselves at him. Cavalli loves the attention and is quite friendly, enjoying caresses and gatherings of people around him. His little stump of a tail  does not stop to wag and his face displays a contagious smile….Yes, he  is a very pleasant gentleman to have by your side. Cavalli  has still a number of good years ahead of him and will make a great friend to the one who loves  and  wants to help a senior in need. Cavalli is waiting at the Manhattan Care Center  for the special person  who will give him a new leash on life…

A volunteer writes:  It was love at first sight…..This elder gentleman, dignified, handsome, soft and sweet….my first walk of the day and I already won the lottery!  Humphrey’s little stubby tail wagged as I unlatched his door, he  has lovely leash manners and is likely housetrained using “the facilities” as soon as we were out the door.  Humphry has been beautifully taken care of and as we walked to the park his nice easy manner was a pleasure.   Off leash in the back he sat by me as I took some notes, happy to be pet and simply be together.  He showed off his ‘sit’, takes treats like the gentleman he is, and nudges me with his nose for more petting.  Stealing a soft kiss (I usually don’t kiss on the first date but made an exception for this wonderful dog), I looked into his bright amber eyes and promised we would find a home for him.   Won’t you help make my promise to him come true?   He’s the perfect “senior”; he has spring in his step, has been beautifully taken care of and will happily spend the rest of his life quietly by your side.   It just doesn’t get better than that!
