06/25/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Hong walks calmly on leash. He was not sociable, and was more interested in the surroundings than the handler during the assessment. Hong followed the assessor at the end of the leash with a calm and relaxed body language when playing tag. He became stiff and uncomfortable during paw handling. Hong was no interested in toys. The behavior department feels that he would do best if placed with a New Hope partner who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification before placement into a permanent home. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. His ears are back, his tail is down, and he has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft, Squeeze 1: 3. Dog was a bit stiff and pulls back his paw quickly. Squeeze 1: 4. Dog growls. Toy: 1. No interest. Playgroup Notes: When off leash with other dogs Hong greets politely and will continue to follow the helper dog and sniff him. She appears to be interested in engaging but the helper dog is uncomfortable with play (potentially due to her stature) and avoids her.
