A volunteer writes: Honey Bunch is just as sweet as her name suggests, a timid little mouse who loves to spend time on a lap and delights in the company of other dogs. She lies curled near the back of her den, all worry wrinkles and haunted eyes, but give this young beauty a chance to nestle into your arms and you’ll soon discover just what a soft and grateful snuggler she can be. Honey is rather shy at the Care Center yet we’re told she’s naturally friendly and outgoing with great social skills among strangers, kids, dogs and even cats! Her former family included children from babyhood to 6 years old, she’s lived in relaxed and playful harmony with a cat and her previous owner describes her doggie play style as respectful and gentle. Nervous as she is right now, Honey still has no problems sharing her toys or food and on leash she’s a brisk but fairly easy walker, gliding low to the ground and using the little girls room promptly too. Truth be told, her family took her outside only once each week so she’s actually knocking this leash walking thing out of the park! She comes when called, already knows commands for sit and shake paw and certainly doesn’t need any lessons in snuggling. Whatever your family’s size, shape or species, Honey Bunch would be a loving new addition you can be proud of, please ask to meet her today.
PROFILE :
Basic Information:
Honey is a 3 year old female Pit Bull. She was a gift from a family member. Her previous owner had her for 6 months but was surrendered because of allergies. She was never taken to the vet but as no known injuries or health problems.
Socialization:
Around strangers Honey is friendly and outgoing. When she plays with adults she is exuberant. She lived with children from ages 0-6 years and with them she was playful and relaxed and when she played she was exuberant. Around other dogs she was respectful and when she played she was gentle. She lived with a cat and she was relaxed and playful.
Behavior:
Honey has never bitten a person or animal. She isn’t bothered by storms or fireworks. If his food bowl is touched while eating Honey continues to eat with a relaxed body. She is friendly if a treat is taken from her and playful if a toy is. She isn’t bothered if she is taken off furniture. She is friendly when given a bath. She isn’t bothered if her coat is brushed. She was friendly if an unfamiliar person approached her home or previous owner. She isn’t bothered if she is disturbed while sleeping.
For a New Family to Know:
Honey is described as friendly, affectionate, playful, and excitable. She has a high activity level. The two things her previous owners liked most about her were; she’s playful and loves to cuddle. When her previous owners were home she would tend to follow them around. She liked to play with chew toys and her favorite game was tug. She was kept indoors only and at night she slept on the couch. She ate dry Pedigree. She is house trained but had accidents daily because she was not taken out on walks. When left alone in the home she was well behaved. She knows how to sit and give paw on command. She was walked once weekly but sometimes not at all. On the leash she’s said to pull very hard.
Behavior during intake:
Honey allowed me to pet her, hold her, collar her and take pictures. She gave kisses, sat on command and layed on my lap. She showed no signs of aggression.
When off leash with other dogs, Honey Bunch is a bit tense but allows the greeter dog to sniff.
