03/12/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
03/12/16 18:47HRS Honey is described affectionate, playful and loving. She lived with children aged 8, 12 and 13 years old. Honey was playful with them allowing them to pet her all over. She was introduced to 3 Yorkshire puppies and immediately welcomed them. She would keep them on her bed and look after them. When Honey is introduced to other dogs outside, she will walk over to them and attempt to approach. BEHAVIOR Honey enjoys the company of people. She will follow her owner everywhere and attempt to climb into her owner’s arms .Honey likes to be included in the everyday activities and will sit in the neighboring chair if the family is at the kitchen table or rest her head at the edge of it. Honey enjoys taking baths and showers. She will jump into the shower if the water is running. Her owner also noted that if she isn’t walked on time, she will urinate in the tub. Honey will allow her owner to remove treats and food from her mouth without reacting. Honey is well behaved when left alone but may whimper for a short while. When Honey is introduced to new people in the home, she will approach them and sniff them. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW Honey knows the commands “sit, down, come and stay.” She likes to play with stuffed toy, large sports balls and rubber balls. She is housetrained and accustomed to being walked at 7:00am, 4:30pm and 9:30 pm. She is always on leash and will pull hard if she is searching for a spot to relieve herself. She is accustomed to playing off leash at the local dog park on Saturday mornings or Wednesday afternoons. Honey is accustomed to eating Pedigree dry food and sometimes wet food. She sleeps on her pillow in the corner of the open closet.
03/19/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Honey’s serious face hides a soft, gentle little girl who’s bewildered as to her change in circumstance. She had a family that included three children, played gently with Yorkie puppies, and loved to be included in all family activities including sitting on a chair at the table while the family ate, gently putting her head on the table to watch. She loves to take a bath or a shower and will jump in the shower if the water is running. Honey is gorgeous in her honey colored coat (of course), and although she is shy at first meeting, gradually warmed up the more time we spent together. As we walk, it’s clear that she’s looking for her family, and she whimpers a bit as she looks around. Ignoring squirrels bouncing around in the park, she sat when I asked her to, and looks so serious as she poses for photos. We’re told that she’s well behaved when left home alone, is housetrained and walked 3x per day, thinks she’s a lap dog, knows ‘sit’, ‘come’, and ‘stay’, likes to play with stuffed toys and balls, and slept on her pillow in the corner of the room. A proven family dog, Honey is looking for a new family to love, a new person to shower with (how fun!!), a new lap to snuggle in, and a place at the table :). I love her and know you will too. Give her a chance to warm up to you and she’s will love you unconditionally and forever. There’s nothing better than that! 03/14/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Honey came into our center as an owner surrender citing moving issues. It is reported she lived with children ages 8, 12, and 13, playful, as well as introduced to 3 yorkie puppies, gentle. Owner reports Honey likes to be included in everyday activities and will sit in the neighboring chair if family is at the kitchen table, resting her head on the edge of it. She enjoys baths and showers, will jump in shower if water is running. Owner reports if Honey is not walked on time she will jump in and urinate in the tub. It is reported Honey isn’t bothered if someone touches her Food, Toys, Treats. Owner states Honey is well behaved when left alone but may whimper for a short while. She is reportedly housetrained and accustomed to being walked 3X a day as well as visiting the dog park up to 2X per week. Honey was timid during her initial medical exam, but warmed up slowly. She whimpered a bit in the SAFER assessment room and was hesitant to approach assessor, but warmed up with treats. Honey allowed her head to be cupped in assessor’s hands, a bit tense. She leaned into assessor during Sensitivity item, yawning, ears back. Honey followed at the end of the leash for Tag game, body a bit low. She pulled her paw back on first Squeeze attempt, moved body and legs away on second attempt. She had no response to both Flank Squeezes. Honey showed no interest in Toy, though this may be due to environment as owner reports she likes to play with stuffed toy, large sports balls and rubber balls. The Behavior Team feels Honey would do best with an Experienced adopter. She may benefit initially from a slow introduction where Honey can approach at her own pace. She seems to warm up with treats and will sit nicely for them. Look: 2. Dog’s eyes are averted, body a bit tense Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, yawning, ears back Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body low Squeeze 1: 2. Dog pulls back paw Squeeze 2: 3. moves her legs/body so that the Assessor is unable to hold the paw Flank squeeze 1/ 2. 1 Dog does not respond at all. Toy 1. No interest.
