10/25/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
10/25/16 17:01 Upon intake, he was very hyper, didn’t want to come into the shelter. He was pulling hard on the leash. Once he got in the office he started to calm down. After treats were given he allowed all handling. Heppo is a 2 year old unaltered male. He is an African Bulldog bred at the owner’s home. Owner has had the dog since he was born and has been around other adults as well as children. He cannot keep Heppo because he is moving out of the Country to Africa. Heppo has been around children from the ages 1-10 years old. He is very playful with children and strangers. When he is around other dogs he is really excited and playful. He has never been around cats. He likes to jump a lot but in a playful manner. He is aware when children are smaller he will become more careful with playtime and handling. Heppo is not bothered when someone removes his food, takes toys and bones or when he is forced off furniture. He has a wiggly body but he allows restraint. He’s okay with unfamiliar faces when they approach the home or family members. He allows bathing, grooming methods and eats dry food. Owner stated that Heppo is house trained and rarely has accidents in the house. He usually goes potty outside. Heppo is never left inside the house when owner is gone; they put him outside in the dog house. When he is left outside owner states he is well-behaved. When the owner is home he tends to be in the same room. Heppo like different finds of toys like squeaky toys, balls and chew bones. He understands the command “Sit” and he has never been crated. When outside he brisk walks when on his leash and pull very hard. If he is off his leash he will try to get away. He has never scratched or bitten humans or animals before.

10/26/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
According to Heppo’s previous owner, when Heppo is around other dogs he is really excited and playful. When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Heppo displays nervous body language when interacting with calm male and female dogs. With further playgroup sessions, Heppo has shown slightly more sociability towards other dogs, large and small. The Behavior Department believes that Heppo would be most comfortable as the only dog in the home, however a dog-dog interaction can be conducted to assess Heppo’s comfort level. 10/26: Heppo is nervous and runs away when the novel female dog attempts to greet him. He displays a low body and a tense face. He seeks handler interaction. 10/28: When greeting novel male dogs, Heppo is nervous, greeting them with a tense face and a low body. He mostly keeps to himself as he explores the pen and begins to run away from the other dogs when they begin to play. 10/29: In a group of calm male and female dogs, Heppo is nervous but is able to relax and becomes more social as the session continues. He is slightly sexually motivated but is able to immediately listen to handler interruptions and continues to socialize. 10/30:Heppo hackles were raised and he persistently attempted to mount an unneutered male dog today while in a group of dogs. 11/3: Heppo is slightly nervous, hyper salivating, in a group of small dogs. He is social, checking in on them often and listens to their corrections when he greets them for longer than their comfort level.
