MOST RECENT MEDICAL INFORMATION AND WEIGHT
12/11/2016 Exam Type BEHAVIORPART2 – Medical Rating is 1 – NORMAL , Behavior Rating is NH ONLY, Weight 82.4 LBS.
RECOMMENDATIONS: New Hope Only _X_No children (under 13) _X_Place with a New Hope partner (Due to the intensity of arousal displayed on leash when passing other dogs (growling, snapping, attempting to redirect more than once onto handlers, the behavior department believes Hennessy may benefit best from placement with a New Hope rescue who can further assess this behavior in a more stable environment. Hennessy is unlikely to thrive in this environment and placement should be sought as soon as possible so not to further rehearse this undesired behavior.) Potential challenges: _X_Basic manners/Poor impulse control (It is recommended that default behaviors such as “Leave it”, “Sit/Stay”, “Down” are reinforced to substitute frustration and teach him to control his impulses instead of simply reacting; proper management is also advised. Force-free, reward based training is recommended.) _X_Mouthiness/Poor bite inhibition (Decreasing the force of the mouth as well as the frequency of mouthing, in this order is recommended by using force-free, reward based training as well to reinforce a soft appropriate mouth and redirect hard inappropriate mouthing onto toys.) _X_On-leash reactivity/barrier frustration (During his stay at our care center, Hennessy has displayed a low threshold for dog reactivity and frustration on leash: hard pulling, barking, lunging, high-pitched vocalization. Hennessy has at times, attempted to redirected onto handlers; growling and snapping. We recommend appropriate and safe management when attempting to modify this behavior; force-free, reward based training is advised.)
