07/19/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Due to Heady’s increased arousal level in the shelter that led to a DOH hold, the difficultly he has deescalating and the on-leash dog reactivity he has displayed, the Behavior Department feels that he should be placed in a home of an experienced adopter who is able to manage his behavioral concerns and provide outlets for his energy and is able to manage his reactivity using positive desensitization and counter-conditioning techniques. SAFER 6/15/16: Heady came into the shelter as a stray, so his past behaviors in in a home are unknown. Upon intake it was reported Heady had loose body and allowed handling. During SAFER Heady came into the assessment room friendly and loose, he was social towards the assessor. He allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Heady was relaxed during the tag interaction, and during the resource portion of the assessment. Heady was easy to handle when engaged with the item. Heady appears to be sociable, and did not display any behavior concerns, so the department feels he can be suitable for an “Average” adopter. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft, soft body, open mouth and tail wagging. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Or dog indicates play with huffing, soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2:1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy 1: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. He does not place his body between you and the toy. Dog-Dog: When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Heady greets and wanders in the pen. He is a bit sexually motivated but does not attempt to mount.

06/14/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Heady was surrendered as a stray so his past behavior around dogs is unknown. When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Heady mostly spends his time wandering in the pen. He is slightly sexually motivated, but does not attempt to mount the female dog. He listens to handler interruptions and continues to wander in the pen. 6/14: Heady greets and wanders in the pen. He is a bit sexually motivated but does not attempt to mount. 7/1: Heady continues to be sexually motivated but does not attempt to mount the female dog. He listens to handler interruptions and wanders in the pen.
