I am a spayed female brown and white am pit bull ter mix. The shelter thinks I am about 1 YEAR 6 MONTHS old.
I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 05/20/2016 from NY 11207, owner surrender reason stated was NO TIME.

05/20/16 22:09 Basic Information: Hazel is an altered 1 1/2 year old American pit bull mix. She was bought as a puppy and is being surrendered because the owner does not have the time to care for Hazel any longer. She has no known health concerns or injuries. Socialization: Hazel is friendly and outgoing when meeting strangers. She is exuberant during play and often jumps on adults and children. She is mostly wiggles and gives kisses during play. She has lived with one adult and 2 children aged 12 and 16 years old. She has spent time with other dogs and is very playful with them. She likes to run and jump on other dogs. Her play is described has exuberant. When she sees stray cats or squirrels outdoors with likes to chase them. Behavior: Hazel is not bothered by loud noises, when someone takes away her food, bones, or treats. She is not bothered when removed from furniture. She is friendly when having her nails trimmed, brushed, or when strangers approach her home and family. She is afraid of baths but will sit for them. For a New Family to Know: She is described has friendly, affectionate, playful, confident, and excitable. She has a high energy level. She loves to play and run. Her favorite toys are towels, ropes, and chew toys. Her favorite games are chase, fetch, wrestling, and tug. She is used to eating dry dog food twice a day. She is very house trained and will only have an accident if the owner takes longer than expected to get home. She will chew on shoes and walls. She knows the commands come, stop, wait, no, and good girl. She is used to leased walks twice a day and pulls lightly on the leash. Admissions Behavior: Hazel maintained a loose body and wagging tail throughout the admissions process. She allows all handling and greeted everyone by jumping up.

05/24/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE

Hazel previously lived with adults and children ages 12 and 16 years old. The owner stated Hazel friendly and playful towards adults and children; she also spent time with other dogs and was very playful with them. The owner mentioned when Hazel sees stray cats or squirrels she would chase them. The owner describes as friendly, affectionate, playful, confident, and excitable. It was reported Hazel is house trained, has a high activity level and She will chew on shoes and walls. At intake it was reported Hazel had loose body posture with her tail wagging, she allowed all handling. During SAFER Hazel came into the assessment room loose and wiggly, she was friendly and affectionate towards the assessor. She allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Hazel joins the game during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Hazel was easy to handle when engaged with the item. Hazel appears to be sociable, and did not display any behaviors concerns, so the department feels she can be suitable for an “Average” adopter and we recommend shoes are put away in the home to prevent Hazel chewing on them. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. Her ears are back, her tail is down, and she has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Or dog indicates play with huffing, soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc. Dog jumps on Assessor once play begins. Squeeze 1 & 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Her eyes are averted and her ears are relaxed. Squeeze 1 & 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Toy: 1. Dog settles down close to chew, will relinquish toy to you.

According to Hazel’s previous owner, Hazel has spent time with other dogs and is very playful with them. She likes to run and jump on other dogs. Her play is described has exuberant. When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Hazel greets appropriately and engages in chase play. 5/25: Hazel engages in play in a group of male and female dogs. She attempts to status seek, mounting a female, but maintains soft body language and continues to play.
