10/27/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Hazelnut will immediately pull at your heartstrings when you meet her. Found as a stray, she’s had a litter of puppies recently, so recently it appears, that it’s hard to imagine the puppies had been properly weaned from her. One can imagine that she’s mourning the premature absence of her puppies by her quiet demeanor, and eyes that seem to be searching for something missing. Every time I approach her kennel, she’s sleeping so soundly that I feel bad rousing her, as she looks so serene and peaceful. But Hazelnut seems housetrained, and is grateful for the ability to relief herself. She’s eager to please and will sit on command, taking treats gently from the had as her reward. Once she’s jumped up onto the bench next to me, she leans in for warmth and snuggles and allows me to pet the soft, silky parts of her fur around her neck. She seems content sitting in my arms, and I can imagine it won’t take much to please her in her new home. A warm bed, good food, a soft comforting person and a few delicious treats is all it will take for Hazelnut to feel at home. Do you think you can offer that? Ask to meet her today.
