09/10/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: What’s black and white with little cropped ears and a sweetly waving tail? Drum roll please………it’s Haylee!! Adorably tiny, sweetly affectionate, deliciously friendly, Miss Haylee showed off her housetraining skills the moment we were out the door, then gives stand up hugs, and while she pulls slightly on the leash all is forgiven when she drapes herself on my lap for more kisses. Haylee sits when asked, gently takes treats, enjoyed a water break in the park and then we cuddled some more. Beautifully groomed with perfect white teeth, she’s pleasantly plump and clearly fed with love. Happiest giving kisses and cuddling, I fell in love with this little dumpling over and over again. A snuggler and a kisser, Miss Haylee is looking for a human with whom to spend the rest of her life cuddling….. I can’t imagine a better partner with whom to curl up on my couch watching my favorite TV show and debating the finer points of Animal Planet. She’s awesome, you’ll love her, I guarantee it
09/11/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Haylee came to the care center as a stray along with another dog , behaviors in a home are unknown. Upon intake she appeared energetic and allowed all handling. Haylee displayed high energy and movement upon entering the SAFER assessment room. She jumped up to lick assessor’s face during Look item. Haylee leaned into assessor during Sensitivity item, lip lick, open mouth panting. She followed at the end of the leash for Tag game, body low on second and third pass. Haylee jumped up onto assessor during positioning for Squeeze item. Once positioned she did not pull her paw back on both attempts. She playfully engaged with Toy, took it away with a loose body, circling and never fully settled. Haylee approached the helper dog in play position, mouth open. The Behavior Team feels Haylee would do well with an Average adopter. She will require daily mental and physical stimulation in the forms of walks, runs, exercise, and play to positively direct her energy and enthusiasm. Haylee may benefit from obedience classes to learn not to jump up, body awareness and focus. Look: 1. Dog jumps up to lick the Assessor’s face with tail wagging, ears back and eyes averted. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft or squinty, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body low and a bit fearful on 2nd and 3rd pass Squeeze 1/ 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Her eyes are averted and her ears are relaxed Toy 2. Dog takes toy away, keeps a firm hold. Her body is between you and the toy, and she is loose and wiggly. No growling or stiffness. Dog – dog 1. Dog approaches the helper dog in play position. Her mouth is open.
09/12/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
09/12/16: When introduced off leash to another dog in the care center, Haylee engages in brief bouts of play, however quickly loses interest, amd seeks hander attention, then seeks exit anxiously. She arrived into our care with a large male dog with no available history. It is unknown how her behavior around dogs will translate into a home setting. The behavior team feels that Haylee could potentially be adopted to a home with another dog pending a successful pre adoption interaction and slow introductions.
