Basic Information:
Harry is an 11 year old German Shepard mix who is loving and likes to be pet.
Social Life and Personality:
Harry has been around children ages 3 to 12 and is relaxed and playful around them. When he plays with children he is gentle. Harry has been around dogs of all sizes and is playful with them. Harry has never been around cat so it is unknown how he will react to them. Harry is mostly house trained but has acccidents a few times a week. Harry has been kept indoors only and has a medium activity level . Harry has been described as : playful, confident, excitable, affectionate, mellow and friendly.
Behavior:
Harry has good behavior and has never bitten another person or animal. Harry is friendly when people touch his food or bowl while he is eating, take a bone or treat away or take a toy or other object away. Harry is also friendly if someone pushes him off of the furniture, gives him a bath, trims his nails or brushes his coat. Harry is friendly when someone unfamiliar approaches his family or home. Harry is friendly when someone disturbs him while he is sleeping or resting.
For a New Family to Know:
Harry knows the commands sit, down and come. Harry knows both Spanish and english. Harry was taken out for walks once a day. Harry will go to the bathroom on the grass and cement. When Harry is at home he will stay in his favorite spot. Harry when left alone Harry is well behaved. When off leash harry will run away. uring thunderstorms Harry will hide. Harry was fed dry food from the brand Pedigree form an open bowl. Harry liked to sleep in the living room.
Intake Behavior:
Harry allowed staff to collar, scan for a microchip and take pictures with no signs of aggression.
Harry walks calmly on leash. He was sociable toward the handler during the assessment – soft body. He was calm and relaxed during handling. Harry had a low body position during the tag test, but followed the assessor at the end of the leash. He was not interested in toys.
Harry was surrender to us. According to his previous owner Harry has been around children ages 3 to 12 and is relaxed and playful around them. When he plays with children he is gentle. Harry has been around dogs of all sizes and is playful with them. Harry has never been around cat so it is unknown how he will react to them. Harry is friendly when people touch his food or bowl while he is eating, take a bone or treat away or take a toy or other object away”. Harry did not show any concern during the behavior assessment. The behavior department feels that he can go to an Average home.
Look: 1. Dog holds gaze with soft eyes, soft body. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Dog holds gaze for three full seconds.
Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item.
Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body low and a bit fearful.
Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw.
Squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw.
Toy: 1. No interest.
