11/18/16 Behavior staff reporting frequent regurgitation of food on walks and during PG S/O: BARH. A is for “Always ready to go for a walk!” She walks nicely on the leash and seems housetrained. R is for “Really, really sweet!” Harley has a gentle, calm demeanor about her. L is for “Love those brindle spots, bat ears, and heart shaped nose with speckles of pink. E is for “Eagerly sits and gives paw on command.” And she’s smart so she can learn more! KNOWN HISTORY: Unknown Unaltered, Stray Other notes: Upon intake Harley was loose-bodied and excited. SAFER ASSESSMENT: 11/9/16 Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. Her ears are back, her tail is down, and she has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Or dog indicates play with huffing, soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc. Dog jumps on Assessor once play begins. Squeeze 1& 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Toy: 1.Dog settles down close to chew, will relinquish toy to you. Summary: No concerns were seen on this assessment DOG-DOG INTERACTION ASSESSMENT: Summary PLAYGROUP: Harley was surrendered as a stray so her past behavior around dogs is unknown. Harley was surrendered as a stray so her past behavior around dogs is unknown. When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Harley engages in and solicits high energy play with male and female dogs. With high energy, sexually motivated males, Harley is nervous but tolerant. She displays a tucked tail and continually spins her rear end away from them as she solicits them to play. The Behavior Department recommends that Harley be placed in a home with dogs that match and are comfortable with her high energy play style. A dog-dog interaction should be conducted to ensure compatibility. 11/8: Harley displays very loose and wiggly body language when greeting a novel male dog. She solicits gentle play but is slightly nervous of the male’s face to face greetings -backing away from him. She is tolerant of his mounting behavior. 11/9: In a group of playful female dogs, Harley engages in high energy, body contact play. She displays loose and wiggly body language throughout the interaction. With high energy, sexually motivated males, Harley is nervous but tolerant. She displays a tucked tail and continually spins her rear end away from them as she solicits them to play. 11/10: In a group of playful male and female dogs, Harley is slightly nervous of the high energy play style but is able to engage. She is tolerant of males that attempt to mount her and continues to solicit play. 11/11-11/16: Harley is more confident as she engages in high energy play with male and female dogs. When dogs are not engaging in play with her, she jumps in the middle and solicits.
