BASIC INFORMATION
Harley is a male Shih Tzu white and tan that is 9 years old. He was a gift to the owner when he was 1 year old. Ever since then Harley has been a loyal member of the family. The owner is surrendering Harley due to personal problems. He has been taken to the veterinarian and has no known illness.
SOCIALIZATION
Harley has been introduced to children ages 1 and up. He wags his tail in excitement and allows to be petted. He is consider gently and follows them around the house. Harley is wary of strangers that come to the house. He barks and retrieved to his corner but he with time he warms up to new people. He is mellow around adults in the house and lounges near them. He has never been introduced to cats. But he is fine with other dogs. He sniffs them and wags his tail in curiosity.
BEHAVIOR
Harley is tolerant of most handling. He is fine being bathed, having his nails trimmed and being restrained. He responds well to commands. He isn’t bother when people touch his food bowl while eating or removing toys from his mouth. Harley is house trained; he only used the bathroom outside. He will hold it until owner comes home and prefer not to use the wee pad.
FOR NEW FAMILIES TO KNOW
Harley is described as mellow, gently and affectionate. He bonds a lot with people. He is well behaved when left at home alone. He is not destructive of furniture. He enjoys brisk walks around the neighborhood. His favorite toys are chew toys, squeaky toys and balls. He enjoys playing alone or fetching the ball. He knows the commands sit, stay and wait. Harley preferred food brand such as Royal canine a Veterinary Diet. Harley is described as a lap dog and enjoys attention from family members.
BEHAVIOR DURING INTAKE
During intake Harley’s body was loose and wiggly. He approached counselor and sniffed. He was fine with being petted. He stood still to be scanned and photographed.
