A volunteer writes: Hans has the hangiest hang dog expression that suggests he may be part hound, along with the Shepherd and Lab mixes he is said to be. He is a meticulous connoisseur of the sidewalks and street posts around the shelter, avidly drawing in the city aromas with his impressive black nose as if testing fine wines. Hans may look mournful, but he is in fact an overgrown goof who still has some of the fun energy of a pup. All legs and ears and tail, large but lean and lanky, Hans has actually been very easy to handle on the leash, frequently checking back with his handler to see if all is okay. He also seems to be housebroken. In his former home, he lived with both adults and young kids, whom he loved and was said to have been gentle around. He has also been good with the other dogs here and is already a champ at fetch. Hans is looking for someone who can give his working-dog genes the exercise and stimulation they need. He learns quickly, is very eager to please, and is just a love to be around. He’s also neutered and ready to go home today. Come to Brooklyn and meet Hans soon!
