Dog seems tense
09/22/2017 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Dogs don’t come any cuter than sassy oreo cookie Hannah! She’s very friendly and makes for a fun date, wrassling with her toy (or the leash), exploring the outside world with a discerning nose and sitting politely on command before grabbing her reward treats with tail-wagging gusto. Much as she likes her human friends, Hannah is no fan of other pups so she’s looking for a home where she can rule as the one and only Queen of the Castle. Looking for a pro athlete and a supermodel rolled into one petite pittie package? Then you’ve come to the right dog! Hannah is ready to shine shine shine and she’d love to share her spotlight with you…

Based on these observed behaviors, the behavior department advises strongly against placing Hannah into an environment with other dogs. INTAKE BEHAVIOR Date of intake 9/18/2017 Upon intake, Hannah was tense MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Date of initial 9/18/2017 During her initial medical exam, Hannah was tense. ENERGY LEVEL: We have no history on Hannah so we cannot be certain of her behavior in a home environment. In the care center, Hannah displays a medium level of energy. She will benefit from daily mental and physical activity to keep her engaged and exercised. RECOMMENDATIONS: Experienced (suitable for an adopter with some previous dog experience, especially in the behaviors outlined below) Potential challenges: _X_Fearful/potential for defensive aggression – Hannah has improved since first arriving at the care center, initially very tense. We recommend a slow approach, and initially going home to a calm, quiet, structured environment so Hannah can relax and know what to expect. She should be spoken to softly and gently. _X_Single dog home/no dog parks: Hannah has displayed concerning behavior during introduction to other dogs. See PLAYGROUP.
