09/24/16 21:05 BASIC INFORMAITON Hannah is a spayed German shepherd that is 13 years old. The owner received Hannah from a friend. The owner can no longer care for Hannah due to moving to another state. Hannah has no known illness. SOCIALIZATION Hannah has lived with toddlers and teenagers. She enjoys being petted. She is gentle and relaxed around the child. Hannah greet stranger relaxed and sniffed. Around the family in the house she is playful and seeks for attention .She has never lived with dogs or cats. BEAHAVIOR Hannah allows her food bowl to be touched while eating, removing toys from her mouth. She allows to be restrained and enjoys her coat brushed and baths. She has never had a bite history. Hannah is walked twice a day. But sometime she has accidence. FOR NEW FAMILIES TO KNOW Hannah is described as mellow, affectionate and friendly. She enjoys playing with balls and squeaky toys. When the owner his home she in the room sleeping or follows her from room to room. She enjoys a lot of affection. Her favorite dog food is pedigree dry. She knows the command sit, stay and come. BEAHAVIOR DURING INTAKE Hannah was relaxed and she allowed all handling. She allowed being collard, scanned and photographed.

KNOWN HISTORY: Altered, Owner Surrender Previously lived with: Adults/young children Behavior toward children: Gentle/relaxed Behavior toward dogs: Unknown Behavior toward cats: Unknown FG/RG: None reported Bite history: None reported Housetrained: Yes Energy level/descriptors: Mellow, friendly, and affectionate SAFER ASSESSMENT: 9/27/16 Look: 2. Dog’s eyes are averted. Her body posture is tense, her tail is low and not moving. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (may need coaxing to approach). She is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor Squeeze 1/2: Dog gently pulls back paw. Toy: 4. Dog growls. Summary: Hannah displayed social behavior throughout her assessment, readily allowing all handling though she did show a potential concern for resource guarding. PLAYGROUP: 9/26/16 When off leash at the care center, Hannah greets the helper dog very briefly but mostly paces the pen and explores the yard. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 9/24/16 During her initial medical exam Hannah was shy, allowed handling, and showed no signs of aggression. RECOMMENDATIONS: Experience Potential challenges: _X_Resource guarding (Hannah has been observed to show a potential concern for resource guarding; see SAFER assessment. Because her owner reports no issues regarding resource guarding in the home, the behavior department believes Hannah would benefit best from an experienced adopter who can potentially manage this behavior in a new home environment. We advise against ever removing items within Hannah’s possession without trading for something of equal/higher value. Force-free, reward based training only is advised when attempting to work/modify behavior.)

Hannah’s previous owner reported that she has never lived with another dog. When off leash at the care center, Hannah displays soft body language as she calmly wanders in a group with calm male and female dogs. The Behavior Department recommends that Hannah be placed in a home with dogs that match her calm energy level. 9/26: Hannah greets the helper dog very briefly but mostly paces the pen and explores the yard. 9/27: In a group of calm male and female dogs, Hannah mostly keep to herself as she explores the yard/ She runs away when a dog greets her from behind. 9/29: Hannah displays soft body language as she calmly wanders in a group with calm male and female dogs.
