A volunteer writes: Looking for a TV watching/cuddling partner? According to Hailey’s former family cuddling on the couch watching TV is one of her favorite things to do? Animal Planet anyone? Hailey has been a family girl all her life living with young children and other dogs and is in our care now as her family is moving someplace where she’s not welcome. We’re told she’s friendly and outgoing, was gentle and relaxed with the kids in the home, doesn’t guard her things, is housetrained and is described as affectionate, playful, mellow and independent. Hailey showed off her housetraining skills the moment we were out the door, sits when asked with a little coaxing and the promise of a treat which she takes gently, ignores all dogs that pass us, and in group to date has done the same. Hailey wears a gorgeous mahogany color coat and her matching amber eyes make soft eye contact with friendship, intelligence and yes, a bit of confusion at her change in environment. She’s an easy girl to spend time with, her tail an easy wag, her body language soft and welcoming. She’s ready to welcome her new person or family into her heart, are you ready to welcome her into yours? Come meet her today.
PROFILE :
Basic Info:
Hailey A1079930 is an 8yr old spayed female red & white Am Staff mix who was given to the owner from the previous owner on the street 7yrs ago and is being surrendered along with her sister Envy A1079941 & brother Tyson A1079962 (euthanasia request) due to the owner moving out of state and not being able to take them with them. They were both
last seen by a veterinarian several years ago and currently have no known health issues/injuries.
Socialization:
Around strangers Hailey is friendly & outgoing. She’s lived with children ages 4yrs-7yrs old and was gentle, exuberant, relaxed, playful with them also with Envy, Tyson & the adults in the home. Hailey has never bitten/scratched any person and would only defend herself from Envy & or Tyson when they would pick on her but no skin or bleeding occured.
Behavior:
Hailey isn’t bothered by the following: having her food/food bowl, toys/treats touched/moved, being moved off of furniture, being brushed, being bathed or being disturbed while sleeping/resting. She hasn’t had her nails trimmed. If someone approaches the home/family member Hailey will bark initially but is welcoming.
For A New Family to Know:
Hailey is friendly, affectionate, playful, confident, mellow, excitable & independent with a medium-high activity level. The owner likes how well behaved indoors she is. Hailey enjoys playing, rope, ball toys and games of fetch, chase, wrestling & tug. Hailey is an indoor/outdoor dog that sleeps in a crate or around the home. She has access to the backyard through a doggy door, is well behaved indoors and outdoors & is housebroken. Hailey eats dry Eukanuba 2-3x a day. According to the owner Hailey would make for a great tv buddy as she loves to sit on the couch next to someone, cuddle and watch t.v
Intake Behavior:
Hailey allowed all handling. She allowed to be scanned (+), collared & taken pictures of including positioning her during her photo session which was a little difficult as she was very wiggly and wanted to jump onto my lap and or grab the squeaky toy. Hailey then walked alongside me and into the kennel on her own.
BEHAVIOR :
Hailey walks calmly on leash. She was sociable toward the handler during the assessment – soft body, low wag. Hailey was calm and relaxed during handling. She was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. She was not interested in toys.
