I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 11/23/2016 from NY 11207, owner surrender reason stated was NO TIME.

11/23/16 19:36 Gypsy is a five year old white male American Pitbull terrier. He was surrendered by his owner due to owner no longer having the time to care for him. He was brought from a breeder when he was six weeks old. Gypsy was taken to the vet last month and has skin issues. Gypsy has lived with four adults and three children ages one and above. He is described as shy around strangers and takes a few minutes to warm up to new people. He will jump on new people and due to his size can knock over the children in the home as well. Gypsy has not been around other dogs or cats. Gypsy has great behavior in the home according to his owner. Gypsy is not bothered when his food is touched when he is eating or when a treat is taken away. Gypsy will bark when a stranger approaches his home, owner stated he was kept away from visitors due to his size. Owner stated he would get over excited and jump all over the visitor. Gypsy is described as an affectionate and shy dog. Gypsy eats dry food Blue Buffalo brand and ate seafood flavors. He is well behaved when left alone. He knows the commands sit, down and quiet. He is used to slow leashed walks twice a day. Upon intake Gypsy was tense and had a tense body when scanning (negative). Cousnelor was able to collar and photograph.

Dog’s eyes are averted. His ears are back, his tail is down, and he has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 5. Dog growls and tries to bite. Toy: 4. Dog freezes and growls. Summary: Gypsy displayed concern during the tag portion of the assessment, becoming highly over-aroused making attempts to snap at the assessor, remainder of the handling portions were omitted due to this behavior.
