6 Years Old, Medium Tan Mix, Neutered, 29 lbs, Stray 11/03/17
Medical: 11/05/17: Progress exam; History : Stray intake 11/4-grade 4/4 MPLs-started on rimadyl.; Subjective: BARH. No c/s/v/d. Has a very difficult time standing and walking without assistance; Objective ; P = WNL ; R = WNL ; BCS 3/9; EENT: Eyes clear, no nasal discharge noted; Oral Exam: limited oral exam due to muzzle; PLN: No enlargements noted; H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupneic; ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated; U/G: MN; MSI: Ambulatory x 4-able to stand with assistance but often face plants when exiting cage. Difficulty walking in HLs, grade 4/4 MPL bilaterally, cachexia MCS 1/3, no pain elicited on ortho exam but did not appreciate exam, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat; CNS: mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities; Assessment: Bilateral grade 4/4 MPL; Underweight; Cachexia; Plan: Continue rimadyl 25mg PO q12 until 11/8-rec cbc/chem if rimadyl to be continued past this day; 2 view LHL and pelvic rads-medial luxating patellas bilaterally, some degenerative changes in hips bilaterally (osteophytes forming around head of the femur); Sedated with dexdomitor 0.44ml IV + butorphanol 0.27 IV and reversed with antisedan IM same amount as dexdomitor; Will require surgical repair; Prognosis: Fair with appropriate treatment/surgery/care; poor quality of life without surgery
Behavior Notes:
During intake, counselor approached and Gummy Bear became stiff and would watch counselor without breaking contact. He would whip around when harness was being taken off. NO handling was done.
