09/27/16 11:35 Basic Information: Gucchi is a three year old unaltered blue and white American Pit Bull Terrier Mix. She was bought from a breeder as a puppy and is being surrendered because the owner does not have the time to care for her. She did not see a vet but she received all her vaccines from PetCo. She has no known health problems or injuries. Socialization: Gucchi is friendly and outgoing when meeting new people. She will sniff them and allow them to pet her right away. She has lived with 4 children ranging in age from 2-12. She is relaxed, playful, and tolerant of the children. She is gentle during play with the children and understands her size (she does not jump on them or knock them over). The owner states that she is very attentive to the children and becomes alert and stands near them if the owner is talking sternly to them. Gucchi lived with a young make yorkie and a cat as well. She was tolerant of the yorkie mounting her and also played gentle with the yorkie. She was respectful of the resident cat and ignore that she was in the home. Behavior: Gucchi is not bothered during storms or fireworks but her ears with perk up and she becomes alert. She is trained to sit and wait while the owner prepares and sets down her food. She is not bothered if her food bowl is touches or removed while eating. She is not bothered if a bone or treat is removed from her as well. She believes people are playing if a toy is taken from her. She will jump off furniture by herself when people enter the room. She is friendly/not bothered when held/restrained. She attempts to jump out of the bath tub when given a bath. She is not bothered when having her nails trimmed. She is friendly when strangers approach her home or family. For A New Family to Know: Her owner described her as very mellow, friendly, affectionate, confident, and indepdent. She has a high activity level and loves to run. When home she tends to lay in her favorite spot. Her favorite toy is a basketball and her favorite game is chase. She likes to sleep under the bed. She is fed dry dog food 3 times a day. Her favorite treats are beef sticks. She is very housetrained and does not have accidents in the home. She is well behaved when home alone and does not damage any household items or furniture. She is crate trained and spends up to four hours in the crate. She knows the commands sit and come here. She is used to being leashed walked and taken to dog parks at least 2x a day.

Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft, or low and a bit fearful. Squeeze 1 & 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Toy: 1. Minimal interest in toy, dog smells, then turns away. Summary: Gucchi displayed no concern during her behavioral assessment PLAYGROUP: 9/27/16 When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Gucchi is very nervous, greeting the male dog with a low body and tucked tail. According to Gucchi’s previous owner, Gucchi lived with a young male yorkie. She was tolerant of the yorkie mounting her and also played gentle with the yorkie. 9/27: When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Gucchi is very nervous, greeting the male dog with a low body and tucked tail. She avoids any further greetings. With a calmer male dog, Gucchi is more social and relaxes slightly throughout the session. 9/29: When greeting a calm male dog, Gucchi is more confident as she greets him. She attempts to solicit play but displays stiff body language. The session is ended when the male dog becomes uncomfortable with her play. 9/30: With a playful male dog, Gucchi is very nervous. She displays a tense face and low body while hiding behind the handlers when the male dog solicits play. After a few minutes, Gucchi becomes uncomfortable with the play solicitations and begins to offer correction by air snapping towards the male dog.
