09/07/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
09/07/16 14:42 Gretle is a young adult female dog, possibly an American Staffordshire Terrier / French Bulldog mix. She was found in an apartment and brought to ACC by police with 2 other dogs-a medium-sized young adult male dog and a young female dog that looks like them. Police report that the dogs were friendly and outgoing with them and each other. Gretle had a loose, wiggly body and wagging tail while I pet her, scanned her (-), collared her, and positioned her for pictures. She and the other dogs were wiggly around each other and sometimes tangled their leashes. They were panting heavily when they arrived, so we gave them water bowls immediately. They drank out of them interchangeably and sometimes from the same bowl at the same time, soft bodied. Gretle sat close to the younger dog. When he younger dog was walked from the room, she pulled towards her strongly and whined.

09/10/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Eager to get outside, Gretle was barking and jumping in her kennel as I approached. She pulled and darted at the beginning of our walk. I totally understood, as she may not have been walked in a while. She promptly took care of her affairs out on the street and calmed down considerably afterward. Eager to please, she sat any time I asked her. She only required some TLC in return! She was perfectly content to lie by feet, as I sat on the park bench, getting admiring looks from passersby. Gretle is a hands-down winner who will make some lucky pet owner very happy! A volunteer writes: A grey little peanut, big ears, and yes, all of our tongues were hanging out on this hot and humid day. Grettle made a beeline for the door as soon as I leashed her, going potty endlessly once outside. Whew! She’d been holding that :). Once in the park we took a water break, Grettle lying down froggy style and inching her way forward (a little belly crawl) to rest her head on my lap. So cute! A couple of treats and Grettle was then rolling on her back, paws in the air, enjoying belly scratches and the cool grass on her back. What a schmushy girl! Beautifully groomed, soft and social, Grettle joined us with two of her housemates left in an abandoned apartment. On her first off leash playdate she mostly ignored the greeter dog so an interaction with a resident dog is recommended prior to adoption. She’s fabulous, she’s friendly, she’s gorgeous, she’s Grettle! Be sure to ask for her when you visit.

09/08/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Gretle came to the care center as a stray so her behavior in a home is unknown. She was found abandoned in an apartment along with two other dogs, a male and a female, it is reported that they were friendly with each other. Upon intake, Gretle had a loose, wiggly body, and wagging tail. On her relief walk she pulled hard and she appeared friendly and social in the SAFER assessment room. She jumped up on the assessor before Look, then held the assessor’s gaze, tail wagging body soft, wiggly. During Sensitivity, she leaned in, body soft and wiggly. She jumped up hard and grabbed the leash during Tag, had trouble settling. For Squeeze she shoulder rubbed, pulled back her paw gently on both attempts. She showed minimal interest in the Toy, picking it up but then dropping it. The Behavior Team recommends that Gretle be placed in an Experienced home with no young children. She will need daily physical exercise, such as walks, runs, and play, and mental stimulation, such as Kongs and puzzle toys. She would benefit from positive reinforcement training. Look: 1. Dog holds gaze with soft eyes, soft body. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Dog holds gaze for three full seconds. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft or squinty, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag: 3. Dog jumps up hard on Asessor. Grabs leash and keeps hold of it. Squeeze 1/2:1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Toy: 1. Minimal interest in Toy, dog picks up then drops.

09/08/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
09/08/16: Gretle arrived into our care with two othr dogs, however, no history of their interaction together available. When introduced off leash to another dog in the care center, Gretle mostly ignores approach, at times sniffing when the greeter dog is nearby. The behavior team feels that Georgia should require successful pre adoption interaction before placment into a home with other dogs.
